life, returning nutrients to the soils and generally being of great service.
Why then the animosity towards them? Is it due to the scurry of their tiny feet in straight columns along the ground? Their ticklish nature when crawling over you in great numbers whilst asleep in a swag? Or the pain and misery of a less-than-ickle ant bite on your big toe?
