Sometimes a hash (#). Sometimes a slash (/). Always ignored.

These little bits of geek marginalia can save you hours of trouble. Comments are the notes you put into a program's source file. When the program is run, it ignores its comments.

If you ever need to hack a program's code, comments can give you clues about what the author was thinking. Assuming the author included them. So please, remember to comment.
