tiny neighs and whinnies

When the Spainiards attempted to conquer Latin America, they brought their sturdy horses, the Andalusians, along with them. When conquering failed, the horses were left to fend for themselves. After many decades of survival, the horses had biologicaly adapted
to the environment. The result was a rather small horse.

These "horses" are probably the ones the Falabella family saw sometime before the mid-ninteenth century. After years of cross breeding and careful selection the family achieved a horse that was no larger than 40 inches above ground. The Falabella is the true 'miniature horse', being an exact replica of many breeds, only in a very small package.
