Freckles are tiny wee blobs of melanin that stand dark against the skin. They appear anywhere on the human body that they please (no matter how personal) to give the wearer a perky, cheeky appearance. The anti-vampires of the epidermus, they breed in the sun; finding freckles on ones thumbs is locktight assurance that summer is on its way. Gypsy rumour has it that rubbing freckles with lemon juice will make them vanish. This is untrue. GV
