diving into a frozen lake ... are you mad?!

The human body is a marvellous thing. No sooner than a nippy breeze sweeping over your exposed parts on a frosty morning, your epidermis goes into a frenzy of Anaglyptic action, raising the affected areas with a legion of tiny bumps (cutis ansirina). Any attached hairs also have the habit of shooting straight up, like some sort of mad porcupine ("piloerection" as it's known in the trade). Oh, try not to let people walk over your grave either ... same result.
