for ickle ears

Grommets are very very ickle little tubes that are placed inside the ears of toddlers. Their aim is to aid hearing, and therefore speech learning, by directing the soundwaves
directly towards the eardrum, effectively acting like small amplifiers without the wires. Unfortunately they have a tendancy to fall out of their own accord, so several sets may need to be inserted across a few years. More recently questions have been raised as to the actual effectiveness of grommets, so they could soon become redundant.
