While inflation didn't kill the radio star, it eventually knocked off the half penny. Ha'pennies were lost to U.K. currency in   December 1984: those bronzed bits confined to jars and sock drawers everywhere by the ravages of rising prices and their increasing worthlessness to Mr and Mrs Brittania.
