keep rollin', rollin', rollin' ...

It's a simple concept really: take a small sphere of chocolate and encase it in a crunchy orange shell. And so, the Jaffa was born.

Incidental to their fantastic taste, these small candy delights also managed to pass into New Zealand movie-going lore. Right before the start of the film, a palpable hush would sweep over the crowd ... normally in anticipation of the flic
itself but also to hear the distinctive rumble which would follow the poor soul who spilled his bag (or box) of Jaffas, sending them rolling all the way down the inclined wooden cinema floor to the front of the theatre.

After surpressing our laughter and as the lights grew dim, the rest of us tucked into ours: sucking the red food colouring off the outside, feeling for the eventual cracks in the shell with our tongues, then sinking our chompers into the half-melted chocolate within. Pure confectionery bliss.
