Whoever it was that decided that normally hideous-to-eat citrus peel, would be a winner after they'd soaked and

encrusted it in sugar, deserves a big fat medal. None of the millions of Christmas cakes pumped out at this time of year would be possible without it, which would rapidly lead to the demise of all the almond icing manufacturers, and so on. Where would it all end, I ask you?
