as big as, well, a pepperpot

Mrs Pepperpot wasn't especially ickle, except when she suddenly became so. Mrs P was an old lady who never knew when and where she's going to turn into the size of her own pepperpot. She usually changes at the most inconvenient times, like in the middle of a skiing competition, or when trying to chase
a moose out of her back yard. Written by Norwegian poet and author Alf Proysen, the Mrs Pepperpot stories are fondly remembered by people all over the world, especially because although being so very ickle could be problematic, Mrs P was a resourceful old dear and always escapes in the end. Mr P, however, is mainly remembered for being embarrassed about his wife's sudden shifts in stature, and insisting on carrying her around in his pocket.
