Leaving aside the rock band of the same nomenclature for just a moment, pixies are just one of Anglo-Saxon mythology's   multitude of small-winged creature types. They're generally characterised by their highly mischevious nature which may explain why Pixie Stix are called just that ... pump a child full of that kiddie cocaine and they'll be in the stratosphere for weeks.
