Although they seem firmly anchored to the body, pubes seem to crop up in the most unlikely places - as well as the more obvious ones, such as in plugholes, kecks or bed. A straw poll among colleagues reveals that tiny   hairs have been spotted trapped behind picture glass, hanging out behind the loo, and even floating delicately in the shafts of sunlight streaming through an open window. The problem is that it's very difficult to know who they belong to. They're small and light, and can travel easily in a draught, like money spiders or fluff. If only children tried to catch them, like dandelion wisps, to make wishes upon. MP
