An ickle little thing with a whole lot of meaning. Cast your eye about and you'll see wedding bands on the fingers of folks all around you. Nothing more than a piece of (usually expensive) metal and embedded with a gem of some kind (for the ladies), the wedding band can quite easily provoke tears, anger,   jealously, envy and many other emotions. Don't doubt my words. Try this test if you do and are married: take it off. Simple. Take it off and try to wander out of the house. Can't be done without angry inquiries (from the spouse), accusations of abandoned love (from the spouse), and heartfelt apologies (from you). Reasoning that love has nothing to do with a small piece of metal around the finger will fall on deaf ears. SE
