Psycho 'most thrilling film ever': The top ten of the American Film Institute's annual one hundred list make for strange bedfellows indeed. Despite this, they do force you to look at what exactly it is that makes a movie "thrilling". Psycho is thrilling for that scene alone; ditto Alien.
