Middle Earthian madness descended on Wellington today with the New Zealand premiere of LOTR: The Two Towers. I missed the hubbub due to a conscious effort to complete my Christmas shopping but as the bus diverted away from Courtenay Place in its entirety, it was possible to catch a glimpse of the throngs. Then I got home and it was all over the end of the news so I got a nice bird's eye view anyhoo. And of course, there was the requisite controversy - New Zealand Film Commission bosses were uninvited to the premiere after a spat concerning debts tallied up by a now defunct production company (story here). The take home message kids? Do not fuck off Peter Jackson.

My friend job had perhaps one of the best jobs in the world when the movies were being made - he got to rove all over the set for several months, reporting for E! Online. He's also recently done a nice (albeit uncredited) interview with Mr Jackson over at lordoftherings.net ... go see, go see!

Hot off the presses: Peter Jackson will "personally ensure" that Wellington host's the world premiere of LOTR: The Return of the King (story here). Now that's going to be huge.
