The move to leafy Newtown went surprisingly well. Todd had arranged for us to use a big old van for the weekend (lovely boy) so we piled a load in on the Friday then polished off the rest the next day, all in record time. Plus, $18 in diesel is a hell of a lot better on the old bank balance than the $150 or so the movers cost last time. So, here's the view from the new abode (we have a view and a balcony again which is most excellent):

Looking northwards towards the city
I also managed to jet up to Auckland last weekend for a spot of work on the Friday, then the weekend with Byron and Briar. Very little was done which was sheer bliss ... work has been this side of hellish recently and with no let up until Christmas, a weekend's out-of-town relaxation was just what the medical practitioner ordered.
Oh, and I suppose I should offer up some interesting links too. Consider yourselves updated!

Moving flats is a right bitch but when your landlady sells the place out from under you, you don't have much choice. Kyle and I tore around Wellington in our quest for new digs last Saturday, and this Saturday we move out of the CBD and over to Newtown (less hustle, equivalent bustle) ... a light airy pad with a spare room, a balcony and a view (all of which are fantastic bonuses). Oh, and the marital aid manufacturer close by should hopefully lead to some interesting stories too. Stay tuned!

A back-lit Mount Victoria
So it came to pass that a small band of merry homosexualists gathered together in fayre Wellington towne to observe the traditional gunpowder exhibition and what a splendid display it was. We picnicked on the peninsula, drank bubbles and the first of the summer ale and watched $90,000 go up in smoke across the harbour. You can check it out for yourself here.
And in other news, the man in whose honour last night's pyrotechnics were held would have stood to have done a hell of a lot of damage if he'd succeeded in his dastardly plan. According to London's Institute of Physics, Guy Fawkes would have completely trashed the Westminster precinct and a fair bit more to boot ... a fine example of anarchism for the ages!

The roadtrip fun continued today ... this time it was over the Rimutakas and into the Wairarapa. Not an overly long journey from Wellington (about an hour and a half) but I was driving. I haven't driven for about a year. I had my manager in the car. I had my manager's manager's manager in the car. There's a whopping great hill right in the middle of the route which is so twisty, you can't go more than 50kph for most of it. I'm just a tad shattered.
