Had a great trip down south recently to celebrate my Aunty Esmay's 50th birthday (photos here). We spent most of it in Athol, a small township about halfway between Invercargill and Queenstown, and home to many Pannetts and assorted kith and kin over the generations. Esmay and Uncle Dave bought Grandma's old house after she passed away and it was just like old times heading back there ... much food, booze and merriment, as always. Hot and sunny too - "The sun always shines on Athol" was one of Grandma's favourite sayings and she's very rarely proved wrong. Great stuff.
The festive madness is about to kick off here with a raft of drinkies and shopping expeditions, as is the norm. Tradition dictates too that the Pickard sisters offer their take on it all, and it's fantastic to see that 'Tis The Season is back for its third consecutive year ... marvellous holiday-related reading it 'tis too!
