The day itself was a cracker - lovely and sunny with a bit of a breeze here in Wellington, and a generally good turnout around the country it seems (80% or so). I popped down to the local school around lunchtime to do my democratic duty, then went up to Kyle and Beth's for their evening shindig. A bloody good do it was too - a vast majority supporting the left, so naturally our mood picked up as the earlier gap between the two majors drew closer. Alas, I didn't win the sweep (which went to those who'd drawn Tariana Turia's name to be the first party leader to speak after 10:01pm), but I looked reasonably fetching in my Orange Election Man badge and 99 MP Party sticker (chosen for their complete randomness - good on them though for scoring 564 votes on the night!).
Anyway, photos from Saturday are here, but I absentmindedly forgot to take one of the lovely big tray of red (raspberry) and blue (blueberry) vodka jellies that I'd made (1 packet of jelly crystals, plus 125ml of boiling water and about 425ml of vodka) ... they certainly packed a punch but were polished off too fast for a snap to be taken. The red ones were good but there was a bit of a funny aftertaste with the blue - much like I'd imagine real life to be if the reins swap hands!

Well, spring is here(ish) and apparently it's not easy being a young sheep at this time of year. Everyone's got it in for you, not least of all the glossy food magazines, and things go from bad to worse if you happen to be called Maggie. Click on the little bounder to the right to see what I mean. Gives new meaning to the phrase "poor lamb" doesn't it!‹ 6.9.05 / 0 comment(s) ›
